One of the greatest frustrations Jesus had with the Pharisees was where they placed God's word as the authority, in comparison to their own traditions and oral regulations. They trusted in their own laws, found greater security and control in holding to them, rather than to God's Word. In this passage Jesus confronts their hypocrisy and shows that the worship God wants is in the heart.
