We're used to leadership leading to perks, status and VIP treatment. In Christ, leadership has its privileges too: the real privilege of discipleship, love and service. John wants us to see: God is love and we are cleansed because of his love; the servant-leader model is an example of God's love for us; and because of his love we must follow his example and wash each other's feet.
