Maury sees interpretive art as using a lie. At first I pushed back against this concept, but I did come around to it. In my head a painting of the Regans with demon black eyes and blood on their hands and mouths is an expression of the truth that Maury sees. Maury sees the painting with these extra elements as a lie told to get something accomplished. It is a lie, and much of the media we consume in other forms is also filled with lies.
