The film remake of the late 50s TV show (starring James Garner), Maverick is the comedy western tale of rakish gambler (Mel Gibson) and the cast of weirdos (Alfred Molina, Jodie Foster, James Garner) all racing towards a half million dollar poker tourney aboard a steamboat. Written by William Goldman and directed by Richard Donner, this thing is jam-packed with surprisingly good times.
