It’s intriguing, the connection Jesus has to the Passover festival. Eventually this will be the time for his crucifixion, but let’s not get ahead of ourselves. In this moment, the same festival is an occasion for him to meet with the religious leaders, to converse when them in the midst of this holy day. The turn that happens later couldn’t be more different. They were still God’s people, he still wanted to reach them. Even Paul and the other apostles kept this Jews-first priority after Jesus’s ascension. How different things could have been if this moment of speaking and listening could have been the same in later years when they would set themselves against him.
