WSJ on Audible Format Changed Drastically
What could have made this a 4 or 5-star listening experience for you?
I used to love, love, love listening to the WSJ on Audible every morning. Then in early May 2017 they switched the format from "9 news articles and an op ed" to what I'll call "5 spiffy stories."
I'm switching my audio subscription to the NY Times since my reason for listening was to get a nice overview of the news as a whole.
I'll still read the WSJ on my phone, but I don't enjoy listening to this watered down version of it which largely focuses on the parts of the WSJ print edition that I typically gloss over.
The narrator is still pretty awesome though, very no-nonsense and a good voice for a news broadcast.
Has May 10, 2017 turned you off from other books in this genre?
No, just the WSJ.
Which scene was your favorite?
The WSJ on Audible prior to May 2017.
What reaction did this book spark in you? Anger, sadness, disappointment?
Disappointment in the change in format.
Any additional comments?
Please go back to the format we had in April 2017 and earlier and I'll switch back.
What happened?
Any additional comments?
Since the WSJ removed the "Here's 5 things you need to know" sections, the quality has gone downhill fast. Today's content included an editorial and three lifestyle pieces - absolutely no relevant news.
To the Audible customer service team -- the WSJ is a complimentary part of the Audible offering that used to provide a primer on today's news. I would strongly suggest that you reach out to the WSJ to ask that they continue to do so, as they are devaluing the Audible product. Feel free to reach out to me if you would like to discuss this further.
Format change has reduced quality dramatically
What was most disappointing about The Wall Street Journals story?
A recent format change has rendered this subscription less enjoyable than it used to be. First, they reduced the number of stories per issue. I can live with that. But what's really bugging me is that it's become clear that the recordings are now made the previous day instead of the morning of. Accordingly, they no longer include pertinent information like how markets performed the previous day or even significant news events that happened after noon the previous day.
Which character as performed by Alexander Quincy was your favorite?
I like the longtime narrator.
This is Not the Wall Street Journal
This book wasnt for you, but who do you think might enjoy it more?
Go back to being current with the news, markets, and Editorials.
If I wanted People Magazine, I would subscribe to it.
What could The Wall Street Journal have done to make this a more enjoyable book for you?
Be the Wall Street Journal again.
Which scene was your favorite?
None. The articles were 2 days old or older. This is not Fake News.
