NERC has issued a Rare Level 3 Essential Action Alert, warning that data centers are threatening the U.S. power grid. These centers, with massive computational loads, pose immediate risks to grid reliability nationwide. #DataCenters #PowerGrid
Data centers are expanding rapidly, with some as large as thousands of Walmarts. In Utah, a center is twice the size of Manhattan. In Nevada, power is diverted from Tahoe residents, while in Georgia, millions of gallons of water are used amid drought. NERC's alert is a call to address these growing concerns.
