Midday Prayer for Tuesday in Week 5 of Easter, using the Current Psalmody
God, come to my assistance.
Glory to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Spirit:
HYMN
Holy, holy, holy! Lord God Almighty!
Holy, holy, holy! All the saints adore thee,
Holy, holy, holy! Though the darkness hide thee,
Holy, holy, holy! Lord God Almighty!
PSALMODY
Ant. Alleluia, alleluia, alleluia.
Psalm 119:1-8
They are happy whose life is blameless,
You have laid down your precepts
I will thank you with an upright heart
Glory to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Spirit:
Psalm-prayer
Lord God, you proclaim victorious those whose lives are blameless and give your law to those who seek it. Make us seek your righteous ways in our hearts.
Psalm 13
How long, O Lord, will you forget me?
How long must I bear grief in my soul,
Look at me, answer me, Lord my God!
As for me, I trust in your merciful love.
Glory to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Spirit:
Psalm-prayer
Saving God, by the resurrection of your Son, you have given light to our eyes, and they shall not sleep in death for ever. Look upon the sufferings of your Church so that our hearts may rejoice in your saving help and sing you songs of praise.
Psalm 14
The fool has said in his heart:
From heaven the Lord looks down
All have left the right path,
Will the evil-doers not understand?
See how they tremble with fear
O that Israel’s salvation might come from Zion!
Glory to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Spirit:
Psalm-prayer
God of wisdom and truth, without you neither truth nor holiness can survive. Safeguard the Church you have gathered into one and make us glad in proclaiming you.
Ant. Alleluia, alleluia, alleluia.
READING See 1 Peter 3:21-22a
You are now saved by a baptismal bath. This baptism is no removal of physical stain, but the pledge to God of an irreproachable conscience through the resurrection of Jesus Christ. He went to heaven and is at God’s right hand.
Sacred Silence (indicated by a bell)
The disciples rejoiced, alleluia.
CONCLUDING PRAYER
O God,
ACCLAMATION (only added when praying in community)
Let us praise the Lord.
