Mental Health Awareness is needed in the black community because of the intergenerational trauma we have experienced as a people and as Black Women in particular. Soror Dr. Annie Lawrence Brown, the 13th International Grand Basileus of Sigma Gamma Rho Sorority, Inc. recognized the importance of this awareness in the 1970s during her administration. A national award is named in her honor to recognize chapters that provide their communities with education in this area until this day. Soror Latonya Sampson McDonald joins us to talk about the mental health issues facing Black Women today and how they can confront and heal their issues.
