Please help me in welcoming May's Golden Guest Oscar Arce-Naranjo, formerly from Mexico: and now living in California, where he is a Short Film Programmer for Sonoma Film Festival. Oscar joins me to discuss his latest project as a filmmaker, actor, director, producer, short film programmer, and a screenwriter. Currently, Oscar is a judge for a short film contest in CA.

We met at Sundance Film Festival this year in Park City, Utah where I had the privilege of working with Oscar at The Ray Theatre. Oscar is a very caring and kind person whom I quickly became friends with, as well as my son Augy -who also volunteered with me this year.

Discussing filmmaking is always an awesome topic for me here on this podcast. Movies have always played a vital role in any filmmaker's motivation for volunteering at a film festival. Bringing like minded souls together for their love of films usually results in long term friendships, especially if we continue to return.

Oscar's cultural background bonded us quickly as we navigate the English language, and it's many double entendres- a testament to Oscar's latest screenplay's title!! As Hollywood continues to transition into the new era of worldwide access, cultural based cinema/tv/streaming are more in demand than ever before. Seeing and understanding other cultures help to alleviate dangerous trends in our world.

Oscar will be producing his second short film since 2019, beginning this Memorial weekend in the USA. I wish him and his production crew the best of luck, as I know they will be having a blast making their dreams come true. Like anything else, filmmaking is done because it comes from the heart and minds of artists that wish to unite all into a cozy understanding that our differences really do make us better human beings.
