For Jesus to help us find the Kingdom, we must find a way to remove ourselves from the thinking that comes naturally by living in the world. We must learn to think like him, to act like him, to follow him. This is why he spends so much time talking about laying aside possessions. It isn’t that having things in itself is a problem, but that surrounding ourselves with too much of that blocks us from seeing the Kingdom. To avoid that, Jesus leads us to lay it all down and find him.
