In this morning rant we continue on discussion about the soul of man, focusing especially on the condition of the soul after the disobedience of Adam.

Genesis 2:7

And the LORD God formed man of the dust of the ground, and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life; and man became a living soul.

Zechariah 12:1

The burden of the word of the LORD for Israel, saith the LORD, which stretch forth the heavens, and lay the foundation of the earth, and formed the spirit of man within him.

1 Thessalonians 5:23   

Now may the God of peace Himself sanctify you entirely; and may your spirit and soul and body be preserved complete, without blame at the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ.

1 Corinthians 15:45   

So also it is written, “The first man, Adam, became a living soul.” The last Adam became a life-giving spirit.

Ezekiel 18:4   

Behold, all souls are Mine; the soul of the father as well as the soul of the son is Mine. The soul who sins will die.

Jeremiah 17:9-10

The heart is deceitful above all things and beyond cure. Who can understand it? 10 “I the Lord search the heart and examine the mind, to reward each person according to their conduct, according to what their deeds deserve.”

Genesis 6:5   

Then the Lord saw that the wickedness of man was great on the earth, and that every intent of the thoughts of his heart was only evil continually.

Matthew 15:19

For out of the heart come evil thoughts, murder, adultery, sexual immorality, theft, false witness, slander.

Matthew 16:26

For what is a man profited, if he shall gain the whole world, and lose his own soul? or what shall a man give in exchange for his soul?

Mark 8:36

For what shall it profit a man, if he shall gain the whole world, and lose his own soul?

Ezekiel 18:20

The soul who sins shall die. The son shall not suffer for the iniquity of the father, nor the father suffer for the iniquity of the son. The righteousness of the righteous shall be upon himself, and the wickedness of the wicked shall be upon himself.

Romans 8:7   

because the mind set on the flesh is hostile toward God; for it does not subject itself to the law of God, for it is not even able to do so,

Romans 10:10

For with the heart one believes and is justified, and with the mouth one confesses and is saved.

Job 33:28   

He has redeemed my soul from going to the pit, And my life shall see the light.’
