Maya loved make-up and art, and talked about being a make-up artist to the stars! She was sweet, caring and a positive person. But her mom, Rosa, said she noticed her daughter began changing as she entered her teenage years. Maya was caught drinking vodka, then smoking marijuana. She was diagnosed with severe depression and placed on Xanax. She eventually started taking cocaine and passed away two years ago from fentanyl poisoning when she was 19½. Rosa’s last message to her daughter, who did not want to be alone, was that you are never alone because God is always by your side. When her daughter passed away, Rosa immediately took on the guilt for what happened. She now realizes that it was not her fault and does not think anyone should blame themselves for an overdose death of a loved one.
