In the last episode we noticed how Clara, the young Minister’s wife heard about a sinful side of one of the leading women in the Church they served when the Granddaughter told her that her Grandmother smoked a pipe. While that was an overheard expression that the little child misunderstood. The events of this chapter will make Clara wonder if the old woman actually did smoke a pipe.
