Mayon Volcano Spews Incandescent Lava And Pyroclastic Currents Amid Ongoing Eruption
Legazpi City, Philippines – Time-lapse footage captured at 6:03 PM on February 7, 2026, shows ongoing lava effusion from the summit crater of Mayon Volcano, marking the 32nd consecutive day of activity.
The effusive eruption continues to produce glowing lava flows, pyroclastic density currents, locally known as “uson,” and frequent rockfalls.
As of February 5, 2026, lava flows have traveled approximately 3.77 kilometers east into the Basud Gully, 1.59 kilometers southeast into the Bonga Gully, and 1.34 kilometers south into the Mi-isi Gullies.
Alert Level 3 remains in effect for Mayon Volcano. Authorities emphasize that entry into the 6-kilometer Permanent Danger Zone is strictly prohibited.
