“Remembering the Grace of the Sacrament”

1. Adam, who died according to God’s warning

* Genesis 5:3 “Seth” = foundation

* Genesis 5:6 “Enosh” = easily broken

* Genesis 5:9 “Kenan” = blacksmith

* Genesis 5:13 “Mahalalel” = praise God

* Genesis 5:15 “Jared” = protect, defense

* Genesis 5:18 “Enoch” = consecration

2. Enoch, who walked with God

* Genesis 5:24 “Enoch doesn’t exist. The reason is because he was taken, by God.” (direct translation)

* Genesis 5:24 “walk with God” = walk around with God

* Genesis 39:2-3 “…the LORD was with him…” (NIV)

* Psalm 46:7 “The LORD Almighty is with us…” (NIV)

* Matthew 1:23 “…‘Immanuel’ (which means ‘God with us’)…” (NIV)

3. The meaning of eating and drinking

* Genesis 5:22 “Methuselah” = be sent after his death

* Genesis 5:25 “Lamech” = strong person

* Genesis 39:29 “Noah” = comfort

* Jude 14 & 15 “Enoch, the seventh from Adam, prophesied about them: “See, the Lord is coming with thousands upon thousands of his holy ones to judge everyone, and to convict all of them of all the ungodly acts they have committed in their ungodliness, and of all the defiant words ungodly sinners have spoken against him.” (NIV)

* Micah 6:8 “He has shown you, O mortal, what is good. And what does the LORD require of you?

To act justly and to love mercy and to walk humbly with your God.” (NIV)
