“Noah, Who Walked with God”
Pastor Hiroyuki Anjiki
1. The situation before the flood
* Genesis 6:13 “…they filled the earth with cruelty…” (Different translation)
* Genesis 6:8 “But Noah found favor in the eyes of the LORD.” (NIV)
* Genesis 6:9 “considered a righteous person” “declared correct” (Direct translation)
* Genesis 6:9 “blameless” = People who makes God’s heart their own
2. God's command of Noah
* Genesis 6:14 “cypress wood” = type of evergreen tree
“pitch” = like asphalt
“ark” = “tevah” in Hebrew
* “Noah’s Ark: A Feasibility Study” by John Woodmorappe (1997)
3. The faith of Noah
* Hebrews 11:7 “By faith Noah, when warned about things not yet seen, in holy fear built an ark to save his family. By his faith he condemned the world and became heir of the righteousness that is in keeping with faith.” (NIV)
* Romans 8:1 “Therefore, there is now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus.” (NIV)
* Matthew 24:37-42 “As it was in the days of Noah, so it will be at the coming of the Son of Man. For in the days before the flood, people were eating and drinking, marrying and giving in marriage, up to the day Noah entered the ark; and they knew nothing about what would happen until the flood came and took them all away. That is how it will be at the coming of the Son of Man. Two men will be in the field; one will be taken and the other left. Two women will be grinding with a hand mill; one will be taken and the other left. ‘Therefore keep watch, because you do not know on what day your Lord will come.’” (NIV)
Thoughts to share at mini church:
1. Learn the process of how to deepen your relationship with God from Noah’s example.
2. What kinds of difficulties do you think Noah had in obeying God’s command?
