“Learn from Saul’s Mistakes”

1. Saul’s death

2. Saul’s problems
* (1) Self-centeredness (He walked with himself as king rather than God)
Walking with self-centeredness brings about pride
Deuteronomy 6:5 “Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your strength.” (NIV)
* (2) He prioritized the voices of the people rather than the heart of God
“The Courage to be Disliked” by psychologist Alfred Adler
1 Peter 2:9 “But you are a chosen people, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, God’s special possession, that you may declare the praises of him who called you out of darkness into his wonderful light.” (NIV)

3. At the end of life
* Quote from Kanzo Uchimura: “The greatest thing we can leave behind is a wholehearted life.”
* Ecclesiastes 7:2 “It is better to go to a house of mourning than to go to a house of feasting, for death is the destiny of everyone; the living should take this to heart.” (NIV)
