“The Birth of Isaac, the Promised Child”
Pastor Hiroyuki Anjiki
1. The Lord fulfilled His promise
* Genesis 21:1 “gracious to” = visited
2. The promised child and the slave child
* Genesis 21:8 “weaned” = 24th month
* Genesis 21:9 “mocking” = make fun of with evil intent
* Genesis 21:10 “Get rid of” = emphatic form
* Jeremiah 42:6 “Whether it is favorable or unfavorable, we will obey the Lord our God, to whom we are sending you, so that it will go well with us, for we will obey the Lord our God.” (NIV)
3. God’s consideration
* Genesis 21:14 “sent her off” = in the Lord’s hands
* Genesis 21:20 “God was with the boy as he grew up…”
Thoughts to share at mini church:
1. Share what “good things” God has done in your life.
2. How should we believers accept things in life that seem to be absurd?
