The Difficulty in Parent & Child Relationships”

1. David and Absolom
* 2 Samuel 14:1 “Joab son of Zeruiah knew that the king’s heart longed for Absalom.” (NIV)
* Joab prepared the stage for reconciliation between David and Absolom (Joab’s intent)
* Absolom had returned to Jerusalem (The king refused to see him)
* Absolom set fire to Joab’s field
* 2 Samuel 14:33 (See above)
2. The difficulty in parent and child relationships
* David’s love for Absolom
* 2 Samuel 18:33 “The king was shaken. He went up to the room over the gateway and wept. As he went, he said: ‘O my son Absalom! My son, my son Absalom! If only I had died instead of you—O Absalom, my son, my son!”” (NIV)
