“The Joy of Baptism”

1. The meaning of why Jesus Christ was baptized
* (1) To show the heart of Father God
Matthew 3:15 “…Let it be so now; it is proper for us to do this to fulfill all righteousness.”
* (2) To show that he came to earth to bear the sins of mankind
2. The meaning of baptism for us
* (1) To experience the death and resurrection of the cross
Romans 6:4 “We were therefore buried with him through baptism into death in order that, just as
Christ was raised from the dead through the glory of the Father, we too may live a new life. For if
we have been united with him in a death like his, we will certainly also be united with him in a
resurrection like his.” (NIV)
* (2) To make a public confession of faith
3. A message of blessing from God
* Appearance of the trinity
* Matthew 3:17 (See above)
* Psalm 2:7 “I will proclaim the Lord’s decree: He said to me, “You are my son; today I have become your father.” (NIV)
* Isaiah 42:1 “Here is my servant, whom I uphold, my chosen one in whom I delight; I will put my Spirit on him, and he will bring justice to the nations.” (NIV)
