In episode 197 of the Mechanical Care Forum, I share a scientific study, pinpointing the highlights of Stephen Kuslich's 1991 paper "The Tissue Origin of Low Back Pain and Sciatica." The first of this kind of podcast focuses on reviewing a scientific paper which I decided to consider, knowing that practicing "evidence-based" is more and more the emphasis in todays world of MSK care. This paper discusses the actual patients and their report of pain experienced when various tissues in the lumbar spine were stimulated via blunt probe or electrical impulse.
