McKinney has been buzzing with excitement over the past 24 hours as the city gears up for a busy weekend packed with music, civic engagement, and outdoor fun. On Saturday, June 7, voters are heading to the polls for a pivotal runoff election. Two hotly contested seats are up for grabs: McKinney mayor and an at-large city council position. Local residents will choose between Bill Cox and Scott Sanford for mayor, and Jim Garrison and Ernest Lynch for the at-large seat. Polls are open across town, and the race is drawing big attention as each candidate brings a distinct vision for McKinney’s future.

Adding to the weekend’s energy, McKinney is also hosting the 29th Annual Texas Music Revolution right in historic downtown. The festivities kicked off Friday and continue all day Saturday, featuring dozens of musicians and bands across multiple stages. Saturday’s lineup spotlights Flatland Cavalry, The Wilder Blue, Jamie Richards, and Lola Kirke on the Burress Injury Law Main Stage. Over on the Bathtubs.com Stage, catch acts like Liam St. John, Payton Howie, and Parker Twomey, while the Texas Homegrown Music Stage features Jonathan Tyler & the Northern Lights and West Texas Exiles, among others. The festival draws music fans from across North Texas for a blend of country, Americana, and Texas roots performances beginning at noon and rolling into the night[5].

Nature lovers won’t be left out, either. Saturday is National Trails Day, and McKinney Parks & Recreation is encouraging everyone to lace up those hiking boots and explore the local trail system. It’s an especially good time to get outside, as the recent weather has been warm and sunny — perfect conditions for a walk or bike ride[4].

While high school sports have settled into the summer break, athletes and fans can look forward to upcoming camps and summer leagues. As for allergies, residents should keep an eye on the pollen count, which has been moderate thanks to summer grasses. Air quality remains healthy, making it a great day to be outdoors.

With music in the streets, neighbors at the polls, and miles of trails to explore, McKinney is truly alive with community spirit this weekend[1][2][3][4][5].
