MDP104 – Finding the one thing you can help other people with the most

Listen Later

Main talking points include:

Starting with a blank sheet of paper... To begin with, don't worry about:

  1. WHAT it is that you will sell
  2. HOW MUCH you'll charge for it
  3. The AMOUNT you want to earn

... These are all questions you will need to answer, but they're not the right place to start.

Start by asking these questions:

  1. What can I do that will help other people?
  2. How will it help them – what will the gain or avoid?
  3. Will I be happy doing this every day for the rest of my life?
  4. Who are the people that need this problem solving the most?
  5. Where are they? How can I connect?
  6. How can I introduce myself to them, and ratify this idea?

Then...

  • Start connecting with people, groups, teams online or in real life
  • Start offering genuine help in or around the subject matter you want to consider
  • WHEN THE TIME IS RIGHT – reach out with your idea (this may need to be to a group leader / admin first)
  • Prove your worth before you earn the right to sell.
  • Produce an MVP
  • It doesn't have to be polished, but it does need to work
  • Offer the MVP at an entry price point.
  • If people actually spend real money on it, you have the crux of an idea that may have legs
  • If people don't:
  • Was it the right group of people?
  • Is it not a viable idea

Developing any business idea is an investment in YOU, in OTHERS, and in YOUR FUTURE. Don't expect returns overnight, but by taking action it puts you in the top 20% – the other 80% have an idea and do nothing with it.

Don't be afraid of failure...
