Most of Shanai’s creative work is focused on cultivating relationships and cultures of care, the restoration of absent narratives, and on building power from the ground up to encourage social, economic and environmental justice.
Shanai is co-founder of the nonprofit arts and culture collective Fire in the Village, and they also run an educational tour company for a nickel mine that doesn’t exist, they also volunteer with various community organizations and initiatives in their region.
