The Gospel is being delivered by the power of God and is always pointing to Christ. The Gospel is Christ and He is being delivered. And this gift of God must be received by faith. Christ won mankind's salvation at the Cross, but He is distributing it through His Word, where it is preached. God uses "means" to distribute what He has won on the Cross.
