Louisiana Confirms New Measles Case: Public Exposure at New Orleans AirportOn November eleventh, Louisiana Department of Health reported a new measles case in an adult resident, exposed during international travel. The patient was at Louis Armstrong New Orleans International Airports Concourse B on November ninth, between five PM and eight thirty PM. Measles can remain airborne for up to two hours after an infectious person leaves. Those on the same flight will be notified. This is the third case in Louisiana this year, all travel-associated. Measles is highly contagious; adults need one MMR dose after age one for immunity. Those born before 57 or with prior measles are also immune. If exposed, check vaccination status, consult a healthcare provider, and watch for symptoms appearing seven to twenty-one days after exposure.
