Sunday Morning Service

Morning Worship Service Sunday 27th September 2026 Subject - Christ our Mediator - The Ministry Speaker - Rev Garth Wilson

This sermon addresses the human anxiety regarding the uncertainty of the afterlife by examining Thomas's question in John 14 about knowing the way to heaven. The central message emphasizes that Jesus provides definitive clarity and assurance through His identity as the way, the truth, and the life. The exposition highlights that salvation is not achieved through human effort or moral performance but is exclusively found in the person and work of Christ, who prepared a place for believers in the Father's house. The tone is pastoral and convicting, urging listeners to move from religious confusion to confident faith in Jesus as the sole mediator between God and mankind. Ultimately, the sermon calls for a personal decision to trust in Christ for salvation, offering peace to those troubled by the prospect of death and separation.

This sermon explores the theological foundation of biblical worship by examining the role of Jesus Christ as the sole mediator between God and humanity. It argues that acceptable worship is made possible only through Christ's work as the high priest who offers a perfect ransom, satisfying divine justice and securing reconciliation for believers. The text contrasts the old covenant's earthly rituals with the new covenant's superior access, emphasizing that Christ's once-for-all sacrifice purifies the conscience and grants believers boldness to approach God. Furthermore, Christ is presented as the advocate who intercedes for the saints and the image through whom the glory of God is revealed. The sermon concludes by asserting that the person and work of Christ must remain the central focus of all worship, mirroring the heavenly scene where the Lamb is honored for his redemptive victory.

Dawn Hill examines translated clips of GeorDavie's teachings and considers his influence on Kathryn Krick and 5F Church. The teachings discussed raise serious concerns about biblical authority, spiritual mediation, religious pluralism, and the elevation of self-appointed spiritual leaders. Dawn contrasts these claims with Scripture's teaching that Jesus Christ is the only mediator between God and man and that every teacher must be tested by God's sufficient Word. She also encourages those questioning or leaving 5F Church to reject the fear of man, turn to Christ, return to Scripture, and seek the care of a faithful local church. The translations discussed were produced with AI assistance and should be carefully compared with the original Swahili-language material.
