Humans of The Fed

Meet Sonia - God, the Gulf War, and Going Back to Nursing

Listen Later

If you’ve been waiting for an episode tailor-made to highlight the objective of Humans of The Fed, this week’s offering is simply perfect. Join us for a conversation with Sonia Fahy and listen as we pull back the curtain on one of The Fed’s most fascinating humans.

Sonia moved to Bury aged 16 from a small village in Galway, with dreams of joining the Sisterhood and becoming a nun. Although that dream was never fulfilled, there’s no question that she found an equally worthy way of making a huge difference to people’s lives.

Discussing her faith, her journey from Nurse Cadet to fully qualified RGN, and her service during the Gulf War in Saudi Arabia, Sonia gives us a glimpse into her life’s work and passions.

Describing The Fed as "...the pinnacle of my career," hear firsthand how she re-invented herself as a dementia and nursing-care specialist after suffering a potentially career-ending burnout following her return from the Gulf.

The second episode in our ‘Caring for our Community mini-series’ shining a light on some of the individuals and teams in The Fed you might not be familiar with, this one is an absolute must-listen.
