Frank Parrott started SmarterSanMarcos.org with the intent to stop the potential development of the SMART Terminal, an over 900-acre heavy industrial development located some 1,200 feet from the San Marcos River.

Proponents of the development say this could be the most important development in city history, as it's anticipated to bring hundreds of millions of dollars in investment, hundreds of high paying jobs, and millions of dollars to the school district.

But despite the economic benefits, there is still fear that the development is too close to the San Marcos River, instilling fear that the SMART Terminal could harm the most precious asset of the city.
