I have seen Stuart go from a blighted town to the beautiful city it is today. (Thank you Commissioner Joan Jefferson) But our city is growing at a significant rate, how it grows and how it is managed will determine if it remains as beautiful and user friendly as it is today.Stuart is a great and unique place which needs to keep its character. We have all either grown up here or moved here from wherever, to become part of this community and enjoy its position on the St. Lucie River. I feel safe in saying we would all like to preserve its unique character but preserving character does not mean we do not embrace growth. As the two are compatible. It is important that we make sure what is added to Stuart does not change its beauty or character.I offer experience as a citizen, stakeholder, landowner, businessman and family man. I can appreciate the viewpoints of each and want to see these views meld for the greater benefit of all our citizens. I am mature and tested, I can use life’s experiences to help craft a path that preserves Stuart’s character and yet finds a way to accommodate growth while keeping Stuart, Stuart.I am trained and practiced in Law so I understand the legal intricacies we will face as we grow and how we manage growth. It will take a mature person with experience to study the options and evaluate what preserves Stuart’s character and unique beauty. I’m not afraid of the hard work, research and planning it will take to achiever a long term view for Stuart’s future growth. I’m sure we can all agree that Stuart is worth all the time and effort it will take to keep it the unique City that we all love so much.
