Megatherium: The Four Ton Dagger Hand Sloth
Megatherium was a giant ground sloth that reached the size of an elephant and dominated South America for millions of years. Unlike modern sloths, it lived on the ground, used powerful claws, could stand upright, and dug massive paleo-burrows that still remain today. Despite having few natural predators, climate changes and human hunting led to its extinction around 10,000 years ago.
