In this honest episode, Mel talks about the years she spent waiting and the moment she realized she didn't want to keep putting her own dreams on hold. She shares what it has really looked like to start a podcast and open a meditation studio while still dealing with anxiety, self-doubt, quiet weeks, uncertainty, and the fear of getting it wrong.

Because maybe courage isn't feeling fearless. Maybe it's deciding that fear doesn't get to make every decision for you.

  • 13: The Voice You Live With

What does it actually feel like to live inside your own mind?

In this episode, we're talking about the inner chatter that follows us through every ordinary day, the mistakes we replay, the things we haven't finished, and the ways we can be so much harder on ourselves than we would ever be on someone we love.

But self-kindness doesn't always mean lying on the couch and doing nothing. Sometimes it looks like cleaning the room, making the appointment, putting the laundry away, getting outside, or finally taking care of the little thing that's been taking up space in the back of your mind.

This is a reminder that mental health also lives in the ordinary moments of our lives. It's how we speak to ourselves, how we care for our bodies and spaces, whether we allow ourselves to rest, and whether our own minds feel like a safe place to be.

You can't move out of your own mind. So let's start making it a little kinder place to live.

    Timestamps:
02:29 How do you talk to yourself when nobody else is listening?
03:09 What self-kindness really looks like in everyday life.
05:26 Why mental health also exists in the ordinary moments of everyday life.
07:14 How quickly we turn one mistake into an identity.
08:21 The little ways you can show yourself, "I've got you."
10:24 What it means to say, "I live here," inside your own mind and body.
11:28 Why the most loving thing you can do for yourself is sometimes the most ordinary.

  • 12: We Were All Human

We don't always know what somebody is carrying.

That's one of the things Mel keeps coming back to in this deeply personal September 11th remembrance. She shares what she remembers from being in seventh grade that morning, the feeling in the classroom, the yellow ribbons and flags that seemed to be everywhere, and the way people came together in the aftermath.

But most importantly, she remembers the people.

The people who died. The families who lost someone. The survivors. The firefighters, police officers, EMS workers, doctors, nurses, military families, and everyone who served afterward and continues to serve.

Twenty-five years later, Mel reflects on what it means to remember without forgetting the humanity underneath it all. We may not be able to change what happened or erase the trauma, but we can decide what we do with what we remember.

We can show up. We can love people while they're here. And if somebody needs us, we can be the person who stays.

    Timestamps:
02:05 September 11th was not just a historic event. For many people, it was the day they lost someone they loved.
04:05 An event can be 25 years old and still be very much alive inside someone who experienced it.
06:19 Mel remembers the powerful sense of community that brought people together after September 11th.
07:31 We don't need another tragedy to remember what we're capable of. We can choose to love and care for each other now.
08:30 You don't need to know everything someone is going through to choose kindness.
11:16 Twenty-five years later, we can honor September 11th by being kind, showing up, and being the person who stays.

This episode is less about having all the answers and more about giving yourself permission to let life be what it is. Mel shares why she doesn't feel guilty for putting the podcast on hold, what she's learning about balance, and why sometimes the most important thing you can do is simply handle what's in front of you.

  • 7: The Spirit of a Little Girl Followed My Niece Home.

What would you do if you caught a glimpse of a spirit out of the corner of your eye?

For years, Mel has had one very clear agreement with Spirit: don’t appear in physical form, and don’t interrupt family time. She chooses when to open herself to communication.

So when she caught sight of a little girl out of the corner of her eye during a simple family barbecue at her sisters house, she knew something was different.

What she discovered wasn’t something to fear. It was a frightened little girl who had followed Mel’s young niece home after riding the school bus and was too scared to go into the light.

In this deeply personal episode, Mel shares one of the most unforgettable experiences of her career as a medium. She takes you through what happened that day, how she came to understand why this little girl was there, and the gentle experience of helping her finally find peace.

Along the way, Mel also answers some of the questions she’s asked most often: Can spirits become earthbound? Why do some souls not realize they’ve passed? How do you tell the difference between loving energy and fearful energy? And why should compassion always come before fear?

Whether you’re curious about mediumship, wondering what happens after we die, or simply looking for a story that may change the way you see the spirit world, this conversation is one you’ll never forget.

Content Note: This episode also includes a brief discussion about the death of someone Mel knew following an overdose. If this is a sensitive topic for you, please take care while listening.

    In this episode you'll learn:

    • What it feels like to encounter a spirit unexpectedly

    • Why some souls become earthbound

    • How Mel distinguishes loving energy from fear

    • The role faith plays in helping souls find peace

    • Why compassion is one of our greatest spiritual gifts

  • 6: The Words I Never Want to Hear Again

In this deeply personal episode, I share a moment from a recent session that I haven’t been able to shake.

A client looked at me through tears and said the words I never want to hear again.

    Because they broke my heart.

Join me as I unpack why that moment stayed with me, what I’ve learned from witnessing people in their most vulnerable moments, and why I never want anyone to apologize for being human.

If you’ve ever apologized for crying, convinced yourself you’re too much, or felt like you had to carry everything alone, this episode is for you.

You don’t have to hold it all together here.

  • 5: Nobody Talks About This: Sometimes You Outgrow the People You Love

One of the hardest truths we face is realizing that not everyone is meant to stay forever.

In this honest conversation, Mel and Josh explore the grief that comes with changing friendships, shifting family dynamics, and relationships that no longer fit the people we’ve become. Together, they talk about spiritual growth, seasons of life, unanswered prayers, and the difficult reality that sometimes God’s protection comes through subtraction, not addition.

This episode isn’t about blame or resentment. It’s about understanding that people can be deeply meaningful without being permanent. Some relationships are lifelong, while others are chapter people, each serving a purpose in our journey.

If you’ve ever mourned a friendship, questioned why someone drifted away, or struggled to let go of what a relationship used to be, this conversation is for you.

Because maybe not every goodbye is a tragedy.

    Maybe some goodbyes are graduations.

And maybe the goal isn’t to keep everyone forever, but to love people well while they’re here and bless them when they’re not.

Some people stay for a lifetime.

Some people stay for a season.

Both can change your life forever.

    Timestamps:

02:17 Mel reflects on who she was five years ago and the difficult season that changed everything.

05:11 How chronic pain brought Mel closer to God during one of her darkest seasons.

10:11 The realization that changed how they view friendships and expectations.

12:35 Learning to stop abandoning yourself while constantly showing up for everyone else.

34:16 The powerful lesson of accepting people for who they are.

38:29 Reframing goodbyes as graduations instead of losses.
