Channel 7 sports presenter Mel McLaughlin has revealed she was diagnosed with stage 2 lung cancer in December and has undergone surgery to remove a tumour and half her lung. Despite never smoking, McLaughlin is among a growing number of young women being diagnosed with lung cancer, with doctors pointing to environmental factors including air pollution, toxic fumes from cooking and cleaning, and radon gas as likely causes. Her older sister Tara died from lung cancer a decade ago at age 39, also as a non-smoker.
