Nearly 1 and 5 women have been raped or sexually assaulted in this country.  22% of black women have been raped or sexually assaulted in this country. A lot of victims are afraid to come forward due to the lack of compassion from the police departments. In Detroit, over 15,000 rape kits were sitting in a warehouse for over 10 years before something was done about it. Some of those cases went as fair back as the 1980’s.
