Melbourne has chosen the swamp everlasting, an endangered native daisy, as its first official floral emblem through a public poll. Lord Mayor Nicholas Reece plans to bring the hardy, resilient flower back from the brink of extinction by planting more in city gardens, selling them commercially, and distributing seeds at citizenship ceremonies.
