Melbourne bar owners are calling for Australian Defence Force assistance to combat a wave of firebombing attacks targeting venues across the city. The co-owner of Bar 20 has proposed using military vehicles like Bushmasters as protective barriers in front of venues to prevent car-ramming attacks, while police have charged more than 30 people in connection with the ongoing violence. Some venues have already placed shipping containers outside their premises as makeshift protection.
