Melchizedek

Listen Later

There has been much debate in Christendom whether Melchisedec (or Melchizedek), king of Salem and Priest of the Most High God was merely a theophany, angel, or a legitimate priest in ancient days; some even say that he was Jesus Christ (better known as a Christophany). There are only three points in the Bible that mention the word "Melchisedec": Genesis 14:18-20, Psalm 110:4, and Hebrews 7. Background of the book of Hebrews will provide context to the verse or verses that support this view and different interpretations of fundamental principles from these verses. The actual argument will undoubtedly be whether the biblical and historical character Melchisedec was a legitimate priest in time or a theophany used by the writer of Hebrews to strengthen his message.
