MeLinda Kann did not plan on becoming a millwork specialist. She went to school for teaching, then theater design, then interior design, and somewhere along the way, a drafting internship at a cabinet shop changed everything. MeLinda's path was anything but linear. She first tried going solo in 2003, got overwhelmed by taxes and business processes, and handed her certificate back to New York. She spent the next 16 years working for custom shops and luxury firms, learning drafting engineering and millwork from the inside out, and fighting for respect on job sites where she was constantly mistaken for the assistant. The turning point came when a repeat client asked her a simple question: your boss went out on his own, so why not you? By 2019, MeLinda had launched MeLinda K Design Studio, and she has not looked back.
