Howdy, anglers! Artificial Lure here with your Lake Texoma fishing report for this fine Saturday, May 24th, 2025.
The Memorial Day weekend is upon us, and the lake is bustling with activity! Water temperature's sitting at a comfortable 65-70 degrees, and the lake level is about 14.91 feet above pool. Water's a bit stained, but that ain't stopping the fish from biting.
Striper fishing has been hit-and-miss lately, but don't let that discourage you. The shad spawn is winding down, but stripers are still active early mornings on topwaters, especially under egrets along the banks. After sunrise, they're moving to 10-20 feet of water, so switch to swimbaits. For the best results, live shad on points and humps in 25-40 feet of water has been producing limits as fish come to the boats to feed. The stripers are almost spawned out, and slab season is just around the corner, folks!
White bass are hitting topwater at daylight on rocky points and windblown areas. They're biting well on slabs and soft plastics in 20-36 feet of water.
Catfishing remains great with the recent lake level rise. Drift cut shad on deep flats off river channels toward the ends of the lake in 25-55 feet of water. Plenty of eaters along ledges and flats in 40-50 feet on cut shad and prepared baits.
Crappie are good on jigs and medium minnows around brush piles in 12-15 feet of water. You'll see lots of smaller fish with occasional spawned-out females.
Bass fishing is good on live shad along the south end of the lake, 5-10 feet off the banks on gravel flats. Jigs, swimbaits, and soft plastic worms are your best bet here.
Hot spots for today: Try the sandy shorelines where the last of the shad spawn is happening, windblown points for white bass, and the south end gravel flats for bass. For stripers, focus on points and humps in 25-40 feet of water.
Word of caution: With Memorial Day upon us, expect heavy traffic on the lake. Also, the lake's reached levels where submerged trees are starting to show, with many others just below the surface. Watch your depth finder and be careful out there!
Remember, it's National Safe Boating Week, so keep safety first as we honor our fallen heroes this Memorial Day weekend.
Tight lines and good fishing, y'all! This is Artificial Lure signing off until next time!
