Memphis Weirdos

Lorette Velvette is important.

Jere Voegeli should be a house hold name among Memphis musicians. In this episode, we listen to a few of his songs and I talk a little bit about legendary Memphis musician, Dan Hopper. This episodes features music from Jere and Dan, as well as music from Alluring Strange.

Memphis Weirdos was nominated for best podcast by the reader of the Memphis Flyer. In this episode I shamelessly ask for votes and give a run down about Memphis Weirdos. Also, I talk about the recent release from Holly R. Whitfield, Secret Memphis. A Guide To The Weird, Wonderful, and Obscure. Buy the guide and vote for Memphis Weirdos!

A rant. What I think about the current affairs of the country right now.

Ross Johnson is a Memphis music legend. He was a writer for Lester Bangs at Creem Magazine. He is the original drummer for Tav Falco's Panther Burns. He was witness to The Cramps recording sessions at Ardent Studios and Sam Phillips Recording Studios in Memphis, Tennessee. He has played drums alongside Alex Chilton and Jeffrey Evans. Quick witted and forever the story teller, I hope you enjoy our conversation.

In this episode I talk to Brian Venable. Brian is a founding member of Memphis rock and roll band, Lucero.

In this episode I talk to Marcia Claire Clifton Faulhaber. Marcia is a founding member of Memphis punk rockers, The Klitz.
