Mental Floss's DJ Mixes

It's often my "Yay I just bought new music, let's mix it immediately" DJ mixes that become some of my favorites. This dub/hard/funk techno and house mix may end up being in that group. I'm digging all the tracks and only used a slice of what I bought in this mix. It even includes a touch of Pink Panther.

A journey progressing across house, reinterpreted classic hits and (sorta) techno. Recorded at a party around Halloween.

A collection of electronic sounding tracks, many I haven't used before in mixes. Some melody and a lot of texture, like you're hearing machines beneath the ground.

A long mix starting with melodic beats and progressing to funky flirtings of house, disco and techno variants. Good to work to, strut to, bob your head to.

I decided to go a bit more hype with this mix, the first section being jungle-esque, and borrowed a popular line used by live jungle MC's for the mix name. Seemed fitting. Light'a, light'a!

Spent the week at a cottage and played some music that would agree to a broad crowd of ages and tastes. It's a mix of ambient beat electronic, indie rock, jazz and funk-influenced stuff with one classic from an old animation done by the National Film Board of Canada (NFB) in the 70's. Consider doing some cleaning while listening to it; your desk is a mess.

Here's a mix of deep techno/house that I originally was going to call "Wading Through Tar" as the beats kinda have that feel, but didn't feel like the name was great. Although the title may suggest it, this isn't psy-trance/techno.
