Dr. Shirley Holloway is the President of the National Alliance on Mental Health Board of Directors.  After the loss of her daughter to mental illness, Dr. Holloway found NAMI and has worked through it to improve access and quality of mental health services to underserved populations. Dr. Holloway served previously as Commissioner of Education and Early Development for the State of Alaska and now does education consulting through her business, Leadership for Excellence. Dr. Holloway's career includes being a teacher for the deaf and hard of hearing, speech pathologist, school principal, Superintendent of the North Slope Borough School District, and college professor. Shirley also has served as a Regent of Charter College, the President of Sheldon Jackson College, and as a board member for the Blood Bank of Alaska, the Special Olympics, the CIRI Foundation, and the Ilisagvik Foundation. She earned her Ph.D. at Gonzaga University.
