MercyMe (Fair Trade Services / Columbia Records) was formed in the mid-1990s in Edmond, Oklahoma, built on a shared passion for music and faith. At the center of the band is lead vocalist Bart Millard, whose voice and personal story would become the defining force behind their success.

Originally starting as a small, independent group, MercyMe spent years traveling, performing in churches, and building a grassroots following. These early days were marked by persistence, limited resources, and a clear sense of purpose.
