Two Champlain Valley communities have voted to move forward with a proposed merger of their schools. 

The Elizabethtown-Lewis and Westport districts in Essex County each held a non-binding straw poll on Tuesday. More than a thousand people turned out to cast ballots, with a majority in favor of a merger.
