Spring is in the air in Meridian, Idaho! The past 24 hours have brought a mix of weather conditions to our charming city. Yesterday saw overcast skies with temperatures reaching a high of 48°F, while today we're expecting partly cloudy conditions with a high of 50°F.

Allergy sufferers, take note: pollen levels are on the rise. The latest count shows moderate levels, with cottonwood at 440, juniper at 310, and maple at 30. If you're sensitive to these allergens, you might want to keep those windows closed and have your allergy medication handy.

Despite the pollen, our air quality remains in the moderate range with an AQI of 53. While this is generally acceptable for most people, those with respiratory sensitivities may want to limit prolonged outdoor activities.

In high school sports, the Meridian Warriors basketball team clinched a nail-biting victory against their crosstown rivals, the Rocky Mountain Grizzlies, with a final score of 68-65. Senior point guard Jake Thompson led the scoring with an impressive 22 points.

Local foodies are buzzing about the grand opening of "The Rustic Spoon," a farm-to-table restaurant featuring locally sourced ingredients. Their signature dish, a huckleberry-glazed Idaho trout, is already earning rave reviews.

In community news, the Meridian Police Department hosted a virtual safety training session yesterday evening, focusing on neighborhood watch programs and personal safety tips. The recorded Zoom session is now available on their YouTube channel for those who missed it.

Lastly, green thumbs rejoice! The Meridian Garden Club is gearing up for its annual Spring Plant Sale this weekend at Settlers Park. From native perennials to heirloom vegetable starts, there's something for every gardener.

As we head into the weekend, Meridian continues to bloom with activity and community spirit. Whether you're cheering on local sports teams, trying new restaurants, or preparing your garden for the season ahead, there's no shortage of ways to enjoy our vibrant city.
