Listen Later

What a spring day it was yesterday in Meridian Idaho Warm sunshine filled the city with highs reaching around 55 degrees after a cool start in the mid 40s The skies stayed mostly clear making it perfect to get outside and enjoy some fresh air and the gentle calm breezes made it an excellent day for everything from dog walking to soccer practice[6][10]

If you felt a little sneezy there was a good reason for it April is peak tree pollen season around here and the count has been on the high side After all that sunshine expect congestion sneezing and itchy eyes to be pretty common across town especially for those sensitive to sagebrush or grass pollen Keep those tissues handy and maybe opt for a walk later in the day when pollen settles a bit[7]

Air quality was generally fair by afternoon—good for most folks but if you’re sensitive you may have noticed a scratchy throat or some trouble outside Still most could enjoy their time outdoors without trouble but it is always wise to check the daily forecast if you suffer from allergies or asthma[8]

Now onto sports Owyhee High made Meridian proud again as Jackson Rasmussen who helped lead Owyhee to recent basketball championship glory was in the news for his continued athletic successes If you are an Owyhee Storm fan there is plenty of reason to celebrate as the school’s athletes have kept Meridian on the statewide sports map[2]

Downtown and public spaces have been buzzing not just with pollen but also with art as Meridian’s Earth Day festivities got underway yesterday Look for new sculptures popping up in Chateau Park as part of Art in Bloom a fresh initiative to celebrate sustainability and creativity It’s a fun excuse for a walk and a few photos for your feed[1]

City leaders are also focusing on the future with ongoing events like the Unplug and Be Outside campaign and plenty of opportunities to get involved in community planning and arts If you’re interested in adding your voice Meridian is still taking applications for its Transportation Commission[1]

The next 24 hours look just as beautiful with mild temperatures ahead so get outside sip some iced tea and enjoy everything Meridian has to offer
