"Meridian's Sunny Spring, Sports Wins, and Artful Happenings"

Listen Later

If you stepped outside in Meridian this morning, you were greeted by clear skies, a cool breeze, and that unmistakable hint of spring in the air. The temperature started off in the upper 40s but will climb to a pleasant 66 degrees by the afternoon, with a gentle wind keeping things fresh. Dust off those sunglasses—no sign of rain, just abundant sunshine expected to stick around through the week as highs rise into the 70s by Wednesday. Just a quick note for allergy sufferers: the pollen count remains moderate today, so you might need to keep some tissues handy, but overall air quality is good, making it a perfect day for outdoor fun or a stroll in the park.

Yesterday’s local sports delivered a healthy dose of excitement. Meridian High’s varsity baseball squad clinched a close 7-6 win against Eagle in extra innings, thanks to a walk-off double by senior Tyler Hansen. The Lady Warriors softball team also shined, posting a convincing 9-2 victory over Rocky Mountain. Over at Mountain View High, the tennis team pulled off a comeback, edging Centennial with a 5-4 win in a nail-biting finish.

Art lovers have a treat in store at Meridian City Hall as the new Land Lines exhibit opened today in the Initial Point Gallery. This show features imaginative works from West Ada School District students across all grade levels. The exhibit will run through May 19, and don’t miss the artist reception on May 6, where you can meet the talented students behind the masterpieces. Award-winning pieces may even become part of Meridian’s landscape as traffic box wraps in the future, adding splashes of color across town.

Elsewhere in the community, city officials announced a free Go with the Flow facilities tour, inviting residents behind the scenes to see how Meridian keeps everything running smoothly. Sign-ups are open now, so it’s a great opportunity for the curious to learn more about their rapidly growing city.

All in all, Meridian is buzzing with activity—whether you’re into sports, arts, or just soaking up the sunshine, today offers a little something for everyone.
