Are we worshiping -at- the Temple...or are we worshiping the Temple? One of the charges against Stephen was that he "never stops speaking against this holy place." And his defense was to take his Jewish brothers back to first principles. What was the Temple? Had it been God's idea, or man's? Had the people - and the leaders in particular - made it into a kind of box for holding God? Was the Temple important because it honored Yahweh, or because it exalted Israel.
