Methane has a bad reputation as a green house gas.   It burns well.  It stores well,  Called Natural Gas   Methane is emitted during the production and transport of coal, natural gas, and oil. Methane emissions also result from livestock and other agricultural practices, land use and by the decay of organic waste in municipal solid waste landfills   Its a green house gas 25 x as potent as CO2   But it lasts on average 9.1 years in the atmosphere compared to Carbon Dioxide 100 years
